Old to New EPIC Format Explainer

Many senior citizens in Andhra Pradesh still possess older Voter ID cards printed before 2015. These old cards use a long, slashed format (like AP/13/086/012345) instead of the modern 10-digit ABC1234567 format required by online portals today.

Hover over (or tap) the parts of the old number below to understand what it means, and read the guide below to learn how to convert it to a modern ID.

How to get your New 10-Digit Number

You cannot simply "convert" or translate the old number into a new number using a formula. The Election Commission automatically assigned new 10-digit alphanumeric numbers to all old accounts in their central database.

To find your new EPIC number:

  1. Go to the official Electoral Search Portal (link below).
  2. Select "Search by Details".
  3. Enter your exact Name, Father's Name, Date of Birth, State (Andhra Pradesh), and District.
  4. Click Search. Your record will appear at the bottom of the screen, displaying your new 10-digit EPIC number!
